Why now

Markets move. Keep your agent’s context current.

Your agent needs a way to bring new developments into its analysis. NewsBeat adds repeatable news checks to the data and tools your strategy already uses.

Bring in new developments

Supplement your model’s existing knowledge with news about the companies and assets you follow.

current context

Keep track of what changed

Keep a cursor for each topic. Your next check asks for the stories that appeared since, giving your agent a consistent starting point.

Built for agent workflows

Use compact, structured answers with sources and timestamps in your prompts, tools, research notes, and alerts.

Where we are

Built today. Coming next.

Your tools. Your channels. Your news. Connect through MCP or API today, with more integrations on the way.

Shipped

2,000+ equities and cryptos, refreshed every fifteen minutes. REST API, OpenAI-compatible tools, and hosted MCP, with cursors, briefs, and topic freshness status.

In progress

Publisher URLs instead of Google News redirects, and a lede for items that currently carry only a headline.

Next

Telegram, Discord, and more service integrations, bringing news updates into the places where you research, collaborate, and act. Scheduled watches and push updates are also planned.

Open

The contract, the schemas and the documentation are public. The catalog and the tool definitions need no credential, so you can evaluate before you spend.

Questions

Before you connect.

Five answers here, and the rest on the full FAQ.

What does NewsBeat do?
NewsBeat gives your AI assistant access to recent company and crypto news. Once connected, you can ask “What is happening with Nvidia?” in your own words. Your assistant looks up the coverage and answers with sources you can open.
Do I need to know how to code?
No coding is needed if your assistant lets you add a remote MCP connection. MCP is a way for an AI assistant to use an outside service. Add the NewsBeat address once, then ask questions normally. If your assistant does not offer this connection, you can explore news directly in the NewsBeat terminal.
What can I ask?
Try “What is happening with Nvidia?”, “Give me the latest headlines about Apple”, or “What changed with Bitcoin since our last check?” You can ask about supported US-listed companies and crypto assets. Follow-up checks depend on your assistant retaining the previous check.
Will my agent know when to check the news?
A connected agent can choose NewsBeat when current news would help answer your question, even if you do not mention NewsBeat by name. For example, it can check recent company headlines while researching a business. Add the suggested instruction in our getting-started guide to make that preference clear. Your assistant controls tool selection and may ask you to approve a lookup.
Will it keep watching when I close the chat?
NewsBeat answers when your assistant calls it. It does not keep your chat running or send alerts by itself. Recurring checks need a scheduling feature in your assistant or another workflow that you set up. Dedicated notifications and messaging integrations are still in development.
Open source

MIT licensed. Built to be extended.

All of it is public — the contract, the ingestion worker, the ledger and this site. Three things make it worth an afternoon.

Runs without infrastructure

Clone it and run the tests with no database, no API key and no news provider. The interesting logic is pure by design, so it can be exercised on its own.

npm install && npm test

Small enough to read

Five packages, one API and one worker. The architecture doc is a single page and covers all of it, including why the billing rules live in SQL rather than in the service.

one page of architecture

The catalog is open

2,000+ equities and cryptos covered today, and the list is deliberately open. Proposing a ticker takes an issue and no code at all, which makes it the cheapest real contribution here.

propose a topic

Python or Go SDKs, extra topics, documentation fixes and integration examples are all genuinely useful. There is no CLA.

Give your agent a market to watch.

Choose your topics, connect through MCP or API, and start building with news your agent can use.
